Hi! My Name is Jim Shearer and I am the owner of Texas School of Bartenders. I would like to take this time to say thanks for your interest in my school.
I started The Texas School of Bartenders in 1987 on South Congress. The Havana Cafe’s kitchen is now where the old school used to be. WOW that was along time ago and Austin has changed a lot since those days.
Of Course 6th Street has been around forever. We started placing our graduates there right when we opened. To make ends meet I bartended at Toulouse at the corner of 6th and Trinity.
There were only 2 places to have a drink in what is now the 4th Street district. The only businesses in that part of town were warehouses, hence the term “The Warehouse District”.
I have watched the Austin bartending industry grow and change a lot since then, and am proud to say that I’ve been at the center of the excitement for over two decades.
What does this mean for you as a student? I have been around long enough to know what you are looking for and how to get you there.
My school has established a wonderful working relationship with just about every conceivable Bar, Night Club, Restaurant, Hotel and Country Club in the area. That way, our job placement percentages are always high.
Today, The Texas School of Bartenders is located in Central Austin just north of The University of Texas Campus on North Lamar. We offer a 1 week course and an extensive, highly recommended 2 week course. We have 3 different class times from Monday through Friday.
- Mornings from 9:30am to 1:30pm
- Afternoons from 1:30pm to 5:30pm
- Evening from 6pm to 10pm
We would love to have you come by the school watch us work with our students. This way you can see how we train. I think you will like what you see.
Please visit the “Request Info” page and fill out the form. I’ll get right back with you. This way we can talk more about what my program and school can offer. And like our saying goes, if you decide to join us, “You’ll be VERY pleased with the end result.”You’ll be VERY pleased with the end result.”
